Like a dream

Like a dream it begins as a seed in the mind

It takes you on a flight only to have you find

That in the waking light you have to climb

Was it mere blurred images or something more?

Perhaps a providential sign

Mystical experiences begin with earthly toil

For they only appear after overcoming a foil

And like a mirage that’s real, but just for the seer

And perhaps verifiable with the proper dream reader

But I gander it’s meant to give heart and be a test of its mettle

Offering the aroma of tea leaves to the boiling kettle

The will to keep going and not prematurely settle

But like a dream it can be vague and grow distant

Melodies that were there allowed to fade into whispers

Unless night’s secrets spur day into opening with wisdom

And the alternation of two fulfill the meant to be system
